As of August 2018 the State of California has changed the requirements of the “Prop 65” law. We now must list on our website any possible chemicals the can cause cancer, birth defects or reproductive problem.
As an example: ABS plastic contains styrene PVC wire insulation can contain Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) electrolytic capacitors can contain Ethylene glycol Brass can contain Lead flame retardant pc boards can contain Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) Aluminum alloys can contain Chromium To put it simply we are a small company and do not have the resources to test every single part, so we list every thing as hazardous. Solder cups arent! | |
| The connectors dont have solder cups in the usual sense. When the have are more like solder troughs. When soldering connectors like these I tin the lead first. Then I stick it in the cup and heat the cup until the solder flows. With these it is nearly impossible to get the tinned wire to stay where it should - you have to hold the wire with one hand and the soldering iron with the other. Thats a recipe for cold joints and indeed I am having to redo several connections they will pop out just as soon as I heat them, Arghh. Since my application requires 16 connections this was extremely frustrating. In my frustration I would like to give only one star, but I am giving 3 since the quality is fine, it is just the design that frustrates me. I would consider these for projects where I am just soldering 3-5 wires e.g. serial cables but would avoid them for other work. Give me real cups any day of the week! I need to make another cable and will not use these, I will order something different. Gratification delayed! | ||
